'Mala', in the Sanskrit language means garland. Used by many cultures and religions around the world, the traditional Japa Mala is made of 108 beads with one main guru bead. Also called prayer necklace or prayer beads like the Roman Catholic's Rosary which has 59 beads. Although the number of beads can vary depending on the preference and purpose, these malas are often accompanied by prayers and/or repetition of specific affirmations and 'mantras' to reinforce calming the mind through deliberate meditative practice.
Our inspiration for this piece comes from the beautiful Seton lake in British Columbia. The early morning dew and fog drifting across the calm waters is a perfect reminder for us to stay still and allow for the energies to flow without outside influences. We used Angelite and Lapis Lazuli, for their high vibrational energy to open and expand consciousness. Both crystals are powerful spiritual stones known to heighten the gift of intuition, assist you during meditation and help your mind, body and spirit to work in harmony. Buddha's head is the guru bead that represents enlightenment and forgiveness. Birch diffuser beads can be infused with your favorite essential oil to further enhance the experience of achieving a state of calm.
